does anyone have the sidewinder software v4 to program sidewinder gamepad buttons?
The 3.2 version seems not to be compatible with usb gamepad and microsoft dont want to distribute v4 on its site

Are you sure 4.0 exists? Did you read this from the MS website:

This section applies to you if you own one of the following SideWinder game port devices:

SideWinder Force Feedback Wheel (game port version only) SideWinder Game Pad

The SideWinder software (version 3.02) included with these SideWinder game port devices is designed to work with Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows 98. If you have Windows 2000 or Windows XP, the operating system includes device drivers for these game controllers listed above, so the device will function properly on both Windows 2000 and Windows XP. However, the accompanying SideWinder software (version 3.02 or any previous version) will not function, so you will not be able to create profiles for these devices using the SideWinder software on Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Microsoft is not planning to update the SideWinder software (version 3.02) for game port devices.

The v4 exists but is only for usb devices and is given with the recent pad, stick or wheel sold by ms
It is compatible with xp/2000 and 9x/me but isnt distibuted on ms site for unkniw reasons

Version 4.0 of the SideWinder software works only with SideWinder USB-only game controllers.
Installing version 4.0 doesn't delete or overwrite earlier versions of the SideWinder software.
You need to use version 3.02 or earlier to customize your version 3.02-compatible game controllers.
