The screen shots look like Apple though?
Can anyone confirm this works?

It looks like kde with an OSX theme running in a virtual machine in OSX,
or perhaps an x-session from another Linux machine. Confusing.

I had to try this, and surprisingly, it does. Or at least did on my
machine.

With some caveats...
While all the sound cards in the machine appear, there is only stereo io.
Only works at 16bit audio. 24 bit caused loud white noise.
Trying to add a DirectX or VST plugin crashed samplitude. The built in
plugins on the mixer (dynamics, eq delay distortion etc) work fine.
Graphical glitches in the parametric eq editor window. Gui feels a little
sluggish when dragging windows.
CPU use was about 11% for a stereo track and a couple of effects on a
1.8Ghz athlon.

So, I would not rate it 'gold' compatibility like in the winedb page you
linked. The only conclusion I came to was that I like the mixer in
Samplitude.

Thanks for trying it out phil!
Maybe in time it will run better.
I'm still running 7.xx BTW because I didn't see any need to move over to
8.xx yet.
