I have a 80GB WD 7200rpm HD and an older 30GB Maxtor (7200). Maxtor used to be main OS drive, but I have since placed XP Home on the new WD and wiped the Maxtor after getting everything setup. My question (sorry)....will two hard drives work if the jumpers are not set correctly? Are jumper settings black & white....meaning they are setup correctly and work or do not work at all? I am trying to make sure my system is working as clean and fast as possible.

Thanks!

The correct jumper settings should be on the top of the drive (slave/master). Set the WD as Master and the Maxtor as slave following the diagrams on top of the drives.

Edit: Also make sure that the master is at the end of the cable and the slave is on the middle connecter.
