I have a modest home recording setup - works for my needs. Here's what I
have:

* Presonus Firepod
* PB 15" AlBook 1.25Ghz
* DP 4.5
* FMR RNC
* Alesis Nanoverb
* Mackie 1202 VLZ Pro
* Peavey VMP-2
* Event 20/20bas monitors
* RANE 6 ch headphone amp
* Tascam DA-20 mkII DAT

I also have a live PA setup for my singer/songwriter gigs

* Carvin MX(something or rather) 8 ch powered mixer from the late 80s./early
90s.
* 2 EV modded speakers
* speaker stands

Assorted mics, cables & stands

I've been thinking about selling the powered mixer and the 1202 to upgrade
to something with more channels and a little more portability so I can use
it for both purposes. I'm not sure how to do this in an intelligent and
cost effective manner.

I'd just use the 1202 for the PA as well but I don't think it can drive the
PA speakers effectively. I supposed power amps are relatively cheap on Ebay
these days but it doesn't seem to me to be a wise investment.

I was thinking of running my mics & instruments into the Firepod and just
the outs into the powered mixer or 1202 into something else to drive the
speakers. But it would be nice o have a way to add a compressor insert into
the chain somewhere (I suppose I could add it into the 1202 - not sure if
this would be best).

This would also enable me to record to my PB DAW and let me work on my live
recording chops.

I'll probably start booking a small local coffeehouse soon and a small
portable PA setup would be nice to have. Anyone remember the Dawn PA
system?

Any suggestions>?

Thanks

Charles
