How to sata controller from ahci to compatible mode (ide i think)

I own a lenovo thinkpad and recently all of a sudden i recieved this messg where it says mediatest failed, check cable, the solutions stated i change my SATA controller to compatible mode from AHCI to IDE most perferably. Id like to know step by step how i can do it myself. Thanks

During boot, you should see something like F12 - Setup or something similar. Press this button to access the bios. You will then need to search for the drive setting and switch it from AHCI to IDE.

If windows fails to boot, just switch the setting back to AHCI.
