I have an FSB of 800, dual channel and 2 sticks of cosair Twinx 256MB LL PC3200. Why would i wanna buy anything faster like DDR433 or DDR466, it wouldn't be synched with the FSB so will there be a perofamnce gain, right?

Coppermine, Banias, Opteron, Prescott, Barton... How 'bout investing less in the CPU and more in its name?

OK, lets look at real MHz. An 800 bus runs at an actual 200MHz (using QDR, QDR800). PC3200 runs at 200MHz (using DDR, DDR400).

Now, if you were to add two sticks of, say, DDR433 to your system, it would still run at DDR400!

But if you were to overclock your system, having that bit of headroom might be handy.

PC3500/3700/4000, aka DDR433/466/500, are overclocker's memory types.

Yes, you would need to OC your cpu and memory and (agp and pci slots locked)to be synchronous timed.

...patiently waiting for 10Ghz processors and immersible virtual reality.
