Greetings..

I'm having a few somewhat serious problems with the sound put out by my EPoX EP-8RDA+. Even with the newest nVidia chipset drivers, the sound is horrible. To be precise, except in Winamp, the sound goes wild: in some videos, the sound is playing at about 2x speed, or it skips a lot, while still playing a bit faster than normal.

In NFS:HP2, my own engine revs up in "stages". Amazingly, in tunnels, the sound is absolutely impecable. Weird, huh?
In Diablo II, a lot of sounds just vanish, the music skips a lot, the speech is like I described earlier.

Although i'm not sure, this might also be the reason why, in EuroLeague Manager, the players move in bursts, i.e. they run for about .5sec, they freeze for .3-.5sec, the run again for abot .5sec etc. (The game runs quite smoothly on my old P166MMx..)

I even tried the Realtek ALC650 drivers. They fix the sound problems, but (i think) it disables the APU in the MCP-T, and, of course, the SoundStorm control panel is unusable, being replaced by the awful ALC650 configuration panel (wich is just an oversized window for 2-3 buttons..)

If anyone can tell me of a fix, or direct me toard some useful links, I'd be ever so grateful.

Did you enable the hardware acceleration in Volume Control? It may be the problem if you haven't done so. Otherwise I would suggest you go to Windows Update and get all the SoundStorm drivers and try them one by one till you get the best one. This is an extremely weird case where everyone has different problems using same version of the driver while ppl got same problem using different driver. And for the NFS:HP2 sound issue, just turn off the EAX and you'll be fine, this is a known issue.

It is morally wrong to allow suckers to keep their money
