1600x1200 TFTs - do they exist?

I've been looking for a good 17-19 inch TFT for a while, but it seems they're only made in 5:4 ratio with a native res of 1280x1024, too low for my tastes.

Does anybody know of a 4:3 1600x1200 TFT? The only one I've ever heard of is the Iiyama AU4831D, but it seems nigh on impossible to find anywhere these days, and Iiyama have discontinued it.

Thanks for your help.

Generally, 1600x1200 is reserved for 20" and up.
At 19", 1600x1200 is considered to small for most.
19" is best suited for 1280x1024.

For under $900, you can get a Dell 20" LCD 2001FP with a 16ms response time.
Which I think is a pretty good monitor at a darned good price.

Thanks!

Well, it certainly seems I'm in the minority here. I run my 19" CRT (18.1 visible) in 1600x1200 all the time, unless I'm mapping in which case I often bump it up to 2048x1536. Quite frankly, 1280x1024 isn't even enough for my web browsing...

And having used the AU4831D a fair bit, I can say that 1600x1200 at that size is just right. Not only that but if you disagree with me and change to non-native res, it looks just as crystal-clear as it does at native. It seems a shame that the manufacturers' decision has been to cater for low-res people, leaving high-res low-budget video freaks with nothing but CRTs...

That Dell sure looks good, though. A bit pricey at around £780 in the UK, I might just stick with a CRT for now, unless anybody else knows of a cheaper alternative.

I've started saving for a projector already. Figure by the time I can afford one, they should come in 1600x1200 sizes...

Do you wear glasses or contacts? That's some unusual vision you got there.

Try AV forums in power buys sections for low prices on Dell 20" TFTs. When he gets enough preorders, he'll be able to get some in. Makes it affordable in the UK.

But I would be interested to see if anyone has any other 20" recommendations.
