hi i am on pay as u go with my mobile phone on orange a i heard on the radio there is a service online that u can send text messages to other people for free. is this true? does anyone have a link to good site that offers this service?

There are some decent firefox extensions which do what you ask. If you use firefox, check it out. If not, use firefox and check it out. I can't recommend any by name, because I don't use them but I have seen some.
