For using with a P4 2.4GHz 'C' at 3GHz. That's 250MHz FSB and 500MHz DDR.

Would PC-3700 run happily at this speed?

If not, would I be looking to use a 5:4 mem/FSB ratio on the mobo?

Canterwood chipset BTW (as if you hadn't guessed  ).

Oh and....pairs? Not pairs?

512MB minimum, 1024MB max.

Wow. Well assuming your mobo/cpu can run at those sick speeds you gotta get the fastest rated memory out there. I know that ddr466 is out there like you mentioned. I would be suprised if it would run at ddr500 unless the timmings were so supressed that you would actually get a performace hit due to the high latency. I have heard a rumor that that Kingston is or has come out with PC4000 HyperX.

...patiently waiting for 10Ghz processors and immersible virtual reality.

There are now a few PC4000 memory modules out now. There is OCZ, Kingston, and most recently Corsair. I'm not too sure which will perform best though. Just wanted to let y'all know that you have a choice when it comes to DDR500 RAM.

You could get PC4000, but it's probably rated at 4-4-4-8, and probably only runs that way with all the BIOS performance enhancements disabled. In youre position, I'd get the best PC3200 I could and run it at 5:4
