I just built myself a new computer, using an Antec Plusview 1000 AMG case (SOHO server chassis I think). The point being it's pretty large (although not toooo big)
but, I've noticed - and I'm sure I'm not the only one - how do things like IDE cables / CD-Audio cables work with larger cases?
I CANT have the master/slave IDE configuration I want because the cables are too short (about 3-5cm's between the 2 "heads" ). To stretch an IDE cable from an optical drive down to a HDD would require 40-50cm's of spacing in between the 2 "heads" of the IDE cables...!
You might be able to find slightly longer IDE cables, but I doubt you will find ones that work in a server case. IDE is a very restrictive specification, and for good reason. If the cables are too long, you will have data loss/corruption. Most server cases are designed with SCSI in mind. SCSI cables can be ridiculously long, and SCSI drives can be daisy-chained.

Are you talking about the space between the Master and Slave connectors on the cable? I've noticed that most recent IDE cables are designed only for drives that sit directly above/below each other, like 2 CD-ROMs, 2 hard drives, etc. I've found a couple that are spaced differently and...kept them form myself. You could try making your own cables...
