I have searched the Microsoft website as well as general Google, and can't seem to find an answer to a question...

With Microsoft Virtual PC 2007, the virtual software emulated a S3 8 MB 2D video card for graphics. This, obviously, doesn't work for any "gaming" application.

With Windows 7 Business and Ultimate, Virtual PC is getting an upgrade. (Including some nice seamless intergration into Windows 7 itself.) I cannot, however, find any information on what graphics adapter the new version emulates for use within its XP mode virtual machine.

As we all know, no matter how much Microsoft tries, a new OS will inevitably "break" some games since the software publisher can't publish an update to the game to make it function. (Whether this is because the publisher doesn't exist, no money to do so, etc.)

I know many people keep "old" Dos, Win 98 SE, etc. machines around for this exact purpose. (I keep a Win 98 SE machine around myself.)

Windows 7 will ultimately break some Windows XP games. With the free option to run a Windows XP Professional SP 3 environment as a virtual machine, this option would potentially alleviate this issue on newly bought pcs.

Does anyone have any information on this possibility?

Not a specific answer but related.

I went to the fourms of the games and applications that I still want to use and searched for Win7 use information.

In the case of some games Civilization IV for example, there is several on going discussions on this issue.

It was clear to me that if I wish to make sure about a specifc game or application until more information was available requires a dual boot setup.

Not that you can't get away with struggling with Win7 related issues for each application, I just am not interested in that. :)
