No, not the Xbox reprise; it's the original PC game from about 2000/2001.
The PC it's installed on has Dx9 on it. But when you try to run the
program, it has an error message saying it must install DirectX 7 from the
CD. And no matter how you handle that message, it will crash to the desktop.
I have uninstalled it and Dx9, then reinstalled them, uninstalled and
reinstalled the Gainward FX 5500 video drivers, and the Epox AC-97 sound
processor drivers.
It's a brand new PC that I assembled for my grandson, using an Epox 8RDA+
motherboard, an AMD XP 2400+ cpu, the FX 5500 already named, 512 MB's of PC
3200 DDR, and the OS is W98se. This is the third MS Community newsgroup I've
posted in, hoping to find some Crimson Skies fans who know about thus quirk.
I am fairly strongly experienced with desktop computers, having owned them
for about 27 years (before IBM's PC, yes).
Anyone got any specifics? I've already seen the entire collection of MS KB
articles that a search for Crimson Skies brings up, and the paltry few FAQ's
that Atari still has on file (Atari was the distributor, but now says that
C.S. is a "Legacy" ).
