I am looking for good software that will allow me to edit mp3 files and
save them up to an including 128kps. The current software I have (Nero)
has a wave editor that converts and saves to mp3 but only up to 96kps
which has a noticable difference in sound quality from mp3's ripped
from CD which are at 128kps. The main reason I am looking for one are
those CD's in my collection with a "hidden track" that occurs several
minutes after the final song. I want to edit it so instead of one
extremely large mp3 file with a huge silent gap in the middle, I will
have two separate mp3 files of the same sound quality. Can anyone
suggest some good software for this purpose that will work via Windows
98? Please email me with suggestions.

My Nero Wave Editor will save mp3s up to CBR 320 kbps. How is yours
different, I wonder?
You really shouldn't be editing mp3s because each time you save it it
loses more quality, and you're using a low quality format to begin
with. It's better to extract your CD to uncompressed wav format, do
whatever editing you need, then compress to MP3 as the very last step.
