I'm having a bit of an issue with my cd burner...I haven't had this problem before, but it's just started to kick in.

My cd burner is connected via the IDE cable I use for my CD ROM drive - so my cd rom is master, my cd burner is slave.

When I connect one of the power cables to my burner, as soon as I login to windows 2000, after a bit of loading my computer resets.

When I disconnect the burner - by taking out the powercable connected to it from my Power Supply, and login to windows, everything works fine.

Would you be able to tell me why this is happening? I would like to use my burner, but I can't, because my computer keeps resetting on me, when it's powered up.

THANKS IN ADVANCE.

It could be that you need to upgrade your power supply. Here's a good test, take the power off the CD-ROM and leave the one on the burner and see if you still get a reset problem. If you don't I'd say that the power supply either 1 needs to be cleaned, or 2 needs to be replaced.

Probably not getting enough voltage and need to replace that PSU, just get a slightly bigger one. Other than that it could be a bad optical drive.

F-DISK-Format-Reinstal DO DA!! DO DA!!

The idle burner probably only uses about 2 watts, so prob not PSU. I would try:

1. using new IDE cable
2. using burner on different IDE channel or as master alone
3. if still persists, get new burner
