Hi, about to buy a new ATA133 HD. Things I'd like to have:

1) Fast access times
2) Quiet operation
3) ~60gb - don't need bigger

Any recommendations?

Thank you

You only have one choice, <b><A HREF="http://www.maxtor.com/en/products/ata/desktop/index.htm" target="_new"><font color=red>Maxtor</A></font color=red></b>, the only manufacturer of ATA133 HDD.

 Good or Bad have no meaning at all, depends on what your point of view is.

OK hm, that's surprising.

Alright well given the bandwidth of 133 v 100 is meaningless, how about ATA100 drives?

1) Very fast response times - most important
2) Relatively quiet
3) ~60gb - no need for more

Liquid Bearing drives seem are quiet. I have one and in comparison to the non-liquid is very quiet. Also, the vendors seem to have confidence in this technology since they are offering the product. I believe that the bearings were tested with SCSI drives b4.

Indeed Fluid/Liquid Bearing 7200 RPM drives are very quiet.

ATM Seagate has the most quiet drives... but they are not as fast as the slightly more noisy Western Digital and Maxtor drives with the same specs, but this doesn't mean that they're slow!

I love my Delta 60HP 7000 RPM fan that puts out more dB then CFM
