Rated the Dell XPS Gen 2 with Nvidia 6800 Ultra card a "Must Have"
laptop of last year.
I would like to know how many others followed this reccomendation have had their 6800 ultra card overheat die in 6-12 months resulting in a black screen at boot up?
For those who haven't yet seen this black boot screen before, have you experienced random blue screens of death with nvidia driver problems showing or screens with strange white dashed patterned lines going across your screen. In that case look forward to a black screen sooner or later...
I've noticed about 5 other dell xps gen2/6800 ultra card owners complain on Dells website in the last few months so i'm wondering if this combo was a LEMON.
So I'm upgrading the "Must Have" to "Must have to overheat your video card"
I wonder how many more times I'll have to replace this card before my 4 year warranty is up...
I would suggest that Dell xps gen 2 owners clear the dust frequently from their laptops video card but GEEZ that is labor intensive(as well as warranty voilating?) just to get at the card...better to be lazy and buy that extended warranty and watch the dell Technician glare in wonder at the giant dust balls accumlated around your 6800 ultra after they lift it out to replace it...
