Greetings,

I just built my first computer (EP-8RDA+). All is working perfectly.

It has built in sound.

When I first assembled it, I did not plug in the little CD sound connector and yet it plays CDs perfectly. Whether or not the CD sound cable/connector is plugged in, the sound is exactly the same.

Question: In a motherboard with built in sound, is sound data transmitted through the drive cable?

I presume there is no need to keep the CD sound connector connected. Right?

Thanks

Pat

Well the sound connector is just for doing analog sound playing. So if you want to play the song using digital sound you don't need it. Most sound cards these days can play digital sound. (For example my ESI waveterminal 192L doesn't even have an analog connector and it plays everything fine)
