all,

this is annoying me greatly now, when I hit my Windows key (left one) XP decides to give me the shutdown menu asking me if I want to log off, shut down etc etc. This is unbelievably annoying as quite often I hit windows key followed by the left ctrl button and my PC shuts itself down whatever I am doing, even if I am in the middle of a game or some work, whatever. It doesnt save any data, just shuts down.

Now, correct me if I am wrong, but on every PC I have ever used before the windows key brings up the start menu??????

I'd love to know why this is happening, any advice???

Cheers folks,

James.

Can you retrace your steps as to why this started happening? Has this been a regular occurence ever since you had your computer? Did it happen when you installed a piece of software? Did you install a new piece of hardware when this started happening?

This is definitely odd...

You might be able to change a few things with this program:

It's freeware.

The last time I heard about problems with the WinKey was in Win9x with certain DOS games installed. Hitting the WinKey sometimes caused system lockups in this scenario.

I haven't heard of anything weird like this happening in WinXP. Have you run a virus scan lately?
