Hi i've recently upgraded my machine and it's current specs are:

A7N8X Deluxe
AMD 2600+
512 (total) Dual Channel DDR 2700
Gainward Geforce FX Ultra 5600/760 TV

Now my situation is my Dad and I trade computer components often, i.e I upgrade my PC and then hand down all my old stuff to him and he essentially gets a upgrade as well. In my orignal setup I owned a Game Theatre XP sound card, but I handed it down to my Dad because he was short a sound card. I made this decision because my new motherboard had a built in sound card that supported 5 speakers + a subwoofer. Now when I think about it, I question whether this was a good trade off. Especially considering the most my Dad uses his soundcard is to listen to mp3s before he burns them to a CD.

So did I get a bad deal? Should I reclaim my card back? It's not to pricey to buy him a semi descent sound card.

In fact could you offer a descent sound card for him that is a very reasonable price?

Its my understanding that the A7N8X Deluxe's Soundstorm is pretty damn good...

I like the Game Theatre XP 7.1 far more than Soundstorm. Cleaner fidelity, higher power handling, a generally softer, more natural sound as well. The breakout box also helped reduce EMI which as pissing me off a lot. I think you got gipped.
