Will RAID PCI card work as well as onboard

I can't find the 875/865 MB I want with onboard IDE raid. I was going to go with the gigabyte but I hear they are not very overclockable (PCI/AGP lock does not work). If I got the IC7 and added an ATA133 raid PCI card, would that work as well as an onboard solution?

Thanks

Yes. Onboard IDE controllers are simply PCI devices without the slot.
