If your timeframe goes to December with a no cash limit, then the 17" SLi Intel Conroe desktop chip, reported to take a Quad Core Kentsfield would be the baddest.

are you planning on selling these?

:o That is crazy.

Wait-are those the 88xx DX10 in SLi, or the 79xx in SLi?

On a side note, do 19" notebooks always have the weird 1680x1050 resolution?

Deleted for advertising.

I apologize for presenting our product in a form that was deemed as advertising. My intention was merely to inform the original poster of our product in a manner similar to that of KillerNotebooks. Please send me a PM or visit the website in my profile if you would like to know more.

well that picture sure is scarey....how the *#$@ are you suppose to type on that thing.

Reply to cpesantes

Ummm... that looks like a desktop layed on it's side with a laptop monitor. Has to be a joke.

As for the best out there, you might talk directly to killernotebooks or some other truely custom builder. If I've read things correctly, killernotebooks can mod things for you like heat pipes and whatnots. Then overclock it.

I love to see an article somewhere on extreme overclocking for laptops and mods. An idea I've always had is since high performance take lots of power and I plug it in anyway, why not delete the battery and replace it with some sort of exotic cooling solution.

hmm.....building that website would be too much trouble for it to be a joke. Besides, Killernotebooks mentioned a laptop similar to that coming out in the previous thread....

I would just love to see a real picture. I am also looking around for a (top of line) laptop in December timeframe....but at 4" thick....I just don't think I would bite on this one.

Those older Dells (pre XPS) were so thick, they killed my wrists...I don't see how 4" is useable.

That website would take very little effort to make, theres tons of starving web developers out there that you can throw peanutes at and get then to build you a site. And people will go to great lengths to screw you over, just look at governments and business, they will stop at nothing.

Anyways, that 3d rendering looks like a few cubes made in 3ds max and the speakers look like ipods resting flat against the surface.

I dunno, maybe im super pesimistic, but that looks like a total joke. I cant remember the name of some other company making crazy claims like this looking to attract investors.

Be Carefull out there.
People will go to great lengths to screw you over.

I'm sorry you feel that way, there are indeed many scams out there, and I do remember the one where the guy featured processors that don't exist. (I do not mean to advertise here, merely explain what is behind the website being discussed.) Mobile MediaFX, like KillerNotebooks, is not one of these. We are a small company just getting started so I did myself build that page. The image is also a rendering used to design the layout of the machine. It is not a full image because we are waiting for a couple parts to arrive in a couple weeks before beginning to ship units.
I would suggest that the origninal poster select a machine based upon the performance, upgradeability, and desired level of mobility. In the first two categories our products might serve well. However, there are many notebook vendors that offer better portability, such as Killer Notebooks. I would suggest you shop around for the best system within your desired weight range.

It is nice to know I am a benchmark now, it's kind of flattering.

What if notebook reviews rated notebooks, instead of in stars with FORUM smileys...

"This model" COMPARED TO KillerNotebooks
:( :? :) :D

I wonder if MobileMedia's "laptops" would work as a media center PC...

Also, MM: One word of advice: as a consumer, I don't know what the differences between the FX and the GT and the Ultra are. Be sure that you have some distinction between the three (have side by side comparisons, simpler naming schemes, etc.)

Oh, and: Additional AC outlet: Power another device via a wall-style AC outlet built into the laptop. 8O that's crazy. I don't want to know how much those weigh.

That would be PERFECT for those high-stakes lan parties. . .

Is it an actual system?

At some point, I hate to say it, you get to the point you have hot rodded your car so far you can only use it on the track and it defeats the purpose.

Strabo4, a side by side comparison would be good, I agree. I have added one at the following link: Model Comparison. Thank you, In my own opinion, I think they would work nicely as a media center PC. We have put a lot of effort into tempering the weight issue, but I don't want to be advertising here, so send me a PM if you want to learn more.

KN, your notebooks do look rather nice to me, and you are well known on these forums. However, we are both in separate niches in the market. Yours attempts to temper performance somewhat relative to the desktop for greater weight reduction, while my machines are targeted at offering at least desktop performance, while remaining light enough to be carried around.

So that is a desktop board with a Xeon Quad core chip?
What kind of power supply is in it?

Reply to killernotebooks

While, I'll spare you the specifics of our power system, it uses ATX motherboards (better upgradeability) and can run on (preferrably efficient) standard power supplies and uses a 708 Watt*hr battery. This provides the power to run a rather hungry system, which will be necessary with the advent of quad-core processors this month and the NVidia 8800 series.
