hi all

i have a single baracuda IV 60 gig drive, and have just bought a gigabyte 7n400 pro. i want to use the pata raid on it. it seems that no-one here in oz sells the cuda IV drives any more, i am wanting to know if i can successfully use a cuda V drive in a RAID 0 alonside my existing one.

It is advised, yet not necessary to use exactly the same hard drives in raid.

You -can- use the new cuda V, but I'd recommend just buying like 2 or 3 40 gig drives (they're cheap these days anyway).

Well it is strongly recommend as different HDs have diffreent timings... the added latency can slow down a RAID 0 array considerably.

But don't wast effort on making a RAID 0 array with Barracuda IV drives... they're horribly bad in RAID 0, even slower then a single drive.

I love my Delta 60HP 7000 RPM fan that puts out more dB then CFM
