Cracking sound on Audigy 2

Hello, I installed a new PC, with motherboard ASUS P4PE, WinXP Pro, SP 1, a HighPoint RocketRaid 1540 card configured as RAID 0&1; I installed an Audigy 2 card; installation was OK, but I hear a cracking noise at each Windows event; but music plays back OK. I have the latest BIOS (1005), latest Creative drivers, latest DirectX. Any idea, any one ? Thanks in advance,

Make sure the speaker cables aren't tangled up in something. I would try some other speakers connected to the same jack. Is is connected to the right jack?

If all else fails you could try a different PCI slot. Could be a conflict. Although this mostly happends with VIA chipset. Which you don't have.

maybe better of you disable all windows sounds.
