I am building the following configuration:

CPU: AMD FX8120 http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/processors/amdfx/Pages/amdfx-model-number-comparison.aspx

MB: GA-990FXA-UD3 http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3894#ov

RAM: Mushkin (996991) - 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-16000 (2000MHz) http://www.mushkin.com/Memory/Blackline/996991.aspx

VGA: Saphire 6870 1Gb http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1037&pid=1270&psn=&lid=1&leg=0

Storage: OCZ Agility II 60Gb http://www.ocztechnology.com/ocz-agility-series-sata-ii-2-5-ssd-eol.html

Cooling: Cooler master Hyper 612 PWM http://www.coolermaster.com/product.php?product_id=6728

PSU: Cooler master GX-550W http://www.coolermaster.com/product.php?product_id=6641

Case: Cooler master HAF 932 http://www.coolermaster.com/product.php?product_id=5363

Ok, now to my question. I have installed all the things and when I turned it on for the first time, nothing came up on the screen and there was no BEEPing from the CPU.

I then repositioned the RAM from slots DDR3_1 and DDR3_2 to slots DDR3_3 and DDR3_4, still nothing.

I changed the VGA from 16xPCI_1 slot to 16xPCI_2, still nothing.

I cannot get any display. What could be the problem ??

I was thinking maybe the RAM is not compatible, since it is rated at 1.65V and the MB is 1.5V , but I did see RAMs in the approved list on gigabytes site when were rated for 1.65V. So I'm confused now.

Any help will be grateful.

Have you followed the instructions on Gigabyte's web site and made sure you have the F3 (or latter) BIOS?

yes , i figured that out yesterday. The stupidity in this is that i now need an old AM3 processor so that i can boot up the system to upgrade the bios. :-| and then i can get the new processor up and running.

I figured it out by looking at the MB manufacture date which happens to be in May 2011 and the FX supporting bios (F3) was released in Aug ..
