Hi folks, I’m about ready to buy a notebook, but being the indecisive chick that I am I can't make up my mind on a build and it is driving me nuts.
In order to stay within my budget I’m trying to make some sacrifices where I can.
The other components are identical (2GB Ram, 80 GB 7,200 rpm HD) I just can’t choose between GPU’s, CPU speeds and resolutions.
What would you get?
A. WXGA+ with a Core 2 Duo T7400 2.16 Ghz and 7900 GTX 512 MB
B. SXGA+ with a Core 2 Duo T7400 2.0 Ghz and 7900 GTX 512 MB
C. SXGA+ with a Core 2 Duo T7400 2.16 Ghz and 7800 GTX 256 MB
The notebook will primarily be used for gaming and work (photoshop, office)
This is my first notebook and LCD screen so I’m kind of concerned with the native resolution issue. Mostly concerned if the WXGA+ will appear too big.
Also, I don’t know if the 7900 GTX will be wasted in anyway on the WXGA+ in games or if the 7800 will adequately play up and coming games.
I’m probably over-thinking the issue. Just want some opinions.
I personally don't think 17" with WXGA+ 1440 x 900 is going to be too big. You can see that resolution on 19" LCD monitors everywhere on the internet. Monitors, LCD: that's a pretty good cross section, and you will see that WSXGA+ doesn't come on until the 20's up to 22".
The WSXGA+ 1680 x 1050 was really made for 20.1" widescreen LCD's. BUT, if you do a lot of photoshop work, the extra detail may come in handy. You can always turn the resolution down, so sometimes it's better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it.
Playing World of Warcraft, Half Life 2 and Oblivion at the moment.
You can always turn the resolution down, so sometimes it's better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it.
That basically sums up what I was thinking.
I figure if I go to my local electronic superstore this weekend and check out the resolutions on their notebooks first hand.
Should be able to remove any doubt then.
Don't know why I didn't think of that earlier. ha
