Hello, I have just installed XP onto my system, and i can't figure out why it won't take either of my modems. I have a Rockwell w/Conexant chipset 6973-17, and a Jaton Wincruise II that also has a Conexant Chipset. (Beginning to think it's COnex with the prob.) I can get them installed, and i can get them to dial up, and even communicate, but they won't log onto my ISP. I know it's not the ISP, i have friends with XP on the same ISP, and i know it's not the Network Config, i have checked it more than a dozen times. Anyone have ANY idea??? HELP PLEASE!!!!
Try pulling all your PCI cards including modem off the motherboard. Then load your soundcard driver before reinstalling it. Check device manager for conflicts. Then load your modem driver a install modem. Make sure you place these card into slots that do not share IRQ's with other motherboard devices (usually slot 1 for sound and 2 or 3 for a modem) check your manual. This is very important because some hardware does not like IRQ sharing even though the motherboard, BIOS, and OS don't mind. If you have any USB devices, make sure they are installed last, drivers then hardware.
