I know it's a long shot, but does anyone have one, and if so, would
you mind putting your morals aside long enough to copy enough pages
from it for me so I can remove the transport mechanism and get it back
in long enough later so that I would have forgotten how I took it out?
I know where I can buy one for about $25, but I'm already out $69 for
a non-repair at a shop on the machine (I'll rant and rave and name
names as soon as I'm sure the manager isn't going to call me back) and
there's a pretty good chance it'll never work again, but I'd like to
give it a better look without sinking any more money into it until I
know for sure what parts it needs.

Hi Mike,
The Service manual will not help you take the transport out but since I have done them many times- I could probably help you the most. I am an Ex Teac employee from the Chicago office.

I have the V-800X also. Mine just stopped working ("FF" and "Rewind"
no longer respond, "Play" clunks that transport but never actually plays,
"Eject" works maybe once on every 20 tries, etc.) I'm guessing one, two, or
all three motors are fried. It's really tragic, because I'd never be able to
afford this quality of a player (when it worked) again. I'm thinking of taking
it to Deltronics on Halsted here in Chicago, but .... who knows if they can bring
it back?
Just a great, great deck from an era long gone, I guess.
