Im looking into purchasing a laptop from HP and i have a question about screen resolution. Is it worth a $50 upgrade to go from 1440x900 wxga to a 1680x1050 wsxga screen res? Is there a noticeable difference between the 2? I plan on watching movies and playing a few games (it has a 256mb 7600gs video card).

I think for $50, quite possibly.
If the LCD is decent, you can simply turn the resolution down should you want to.
