hey,

between the two soundcards, the audigy 1 & 2 whats the sound quality difference between the two. Like is it worth the extra money going from an audigy 1 to 2 or not. I am only interested in playback no need for recording. I use z-540's and a good pair of boss headphones. I am currently using an extigy, but want to go to an internal soundcard coz of increased performance, ect. I spose could you notice a big difference between an audigy 2 and a audigy 1 or an extigy???

According to several reviews, Audigy2 is much better and the difference is quite audible. This is the result of its better Digital to Analog converter (a high-end 24-bit/192KHz DAC by Crystal) and probably a bit due to the fact that the Audigy2 audio processor is 24-bit/96KHz capable.

Dont' go the extigy route unless your working on laptop or PC with no pci slots.

The Audigy 2 is IMO the best gaming card out there.

Athlon 1700+, Epox 8RDA (NForce2), Maxtor Diamondmax Plus 9 80GB 8MB cache, 2x256mb Crucial PC2100 in Dual DDR, Geforce 3, Audigy, Z560s, MX500

I couldn't tell a difference going from Live to Audigy 2. But it's not much more, just get an OEM Audigy 2 to play it safe. Maybe future games will take advantage of the environmental effects.

I just bought an audigy 2. I didn't really want a creative product. I got to admit it sounds pretty dam good.
