The Mackie D8B is still one of the best sounding digital mixing
boards
in it's class. It has 24 line inputs, 12 mic pre-amps, and configured
as mine, 32 AES digital input and outputs. I'm including two separate
24 channel AES harnesses modifiable, if necessary, for your
application. They're incredible low capacitance makes them the best
sounding digital audio cables available, easily worth $500 each. The
additional apogee external word clock card enables the board to be
locked to an external W/C generator, totally necessary for the absolute

best digital audio.

The D8B offers full control of all functions from either the
board
itself or through a keyboard and mouse. It can be used as a traditional

mixing board or like the mixing section of a DAW with many 3rd party
plug-ins available. It has full surround capabilities. In the MUI
mode, faders and knobs can be assigned to act as a controller for
additional software based systems. There are two unique features
which make this board particularly good for live applications. The
separate power supply enables both pieces to be much lighter than a
single unit, and allows any fan noise to be away from the mixer. In
addition, each channel employs a gate, compressor, and two different
switchable EQ sections, a must for live sound. See
