When I have a drummer in my living room I get a little nervous that I
am pissing off the neighbors. i am not a fuss pot over total sound
isolation, it is rock and roll after all, but I would like to get the
level down a little for the neighbors sake. Here's my plan laid out
with the hope of getting a little feedback. The room is in the middle
of my house so I will focus on the doors and window in the room. THe
walls are thick concrete so I dont think they are a problem. My idea
is to make thick quilts out of cotton or hemp insulation with canvas on
the back and burlap on the front so they can function as absorbers as
well. THe "quilts" will be big enough to cover the doors by about a
foot on either side and on top and hang to the floor. Will this help
with insulation or not? Anyone have a better idea?

you need it air-tight.

your windows and doors are your enemies. can you drywall over the
windows and put sandbags in the window cutouts?

check out overly doors. about $800 and up for each door.

to do this right you will need to spend thousands and substantially
alter the physical characteristics of your room.

or look into vocalbooth.com and buy their big monster for about $4000
or whatever and jam that into your living room. whatever few db leak
out of that will be effectively killed by your living room "outer
shell". and it will be a non-issue for your neighbors.

Never enough, is it? They're like rabbits, or something.

I had a noise problem with my neighbours over my music, and they called in the council...
So I had to call a local soundproofing supplier: soundproofing forum
They sorted out all the materials and gave me help on how to install the stuff.
