I am looking to spend about $500 on some active monitors. I currently
have the M-Audio BX5s and don't like them. Which of the above would be
the better option? Or do you have another suggestion at this price
point?

See, monitors are a very personal thing. You already bought one set
of monitors that you didn't like. What makes you think you are going
to like the next pair anyone recommends?

I can tell you I'd pick the Tannoy Reveal in that price range, but
you might not. You need to go listening to speakers.

I pretty much agree with Scott here. There's a lot of personal
preference in speaker choice.

Having listened to the KRK V-4 I was fairly impressed with them. But
the lack of bass heft will likely disappoint most folks. With a sub it
could be a nice setup. See if there's a Yorkville dealer around and
check out the powered YSM speakers, not a bad choice at the price.

Maybe your money would be better spent on improving the acoustics of your
room. That way all monitors will sound better including the ones you have.

Always a good plan but from what I heard of the BX-5 monitors, a change
there couldn't hurt either.
