Hi all,

This is my first post! I am greatly excited to get feedback from such
an obviously knowledgeable bunch.

I'm looking for a matched pair of mics to do location stereo recording.
The music will mostly be a solo classical singer (myself doing
opera/art song) with piano accompaniment in a recital hall.

My rig thus far: a Dell Latitude C600 laptop, 750 MHZ P3, 512 meg, 20
gig with Audacity (plan to upgrade software later on); M-Audio Duo.

My favorite mic thus far is the Studio Projects C4. Because of its
interchangeable heads I could experiment with lots of different stereo
configurations (I'm especially intrigued with Jecklin disc).

Most of the C4 comments on the group are close micing (guitar, drums,
etc). Anyone out there with stereo micing experience with the C4? Care
to comment, Brent Casey?

Thanks,
Oliver Henderson

how much money are you willing to spend?

the standard for classical mics is Schoeps. they have many models.
it's actually mind-boggling.

but since you are in m-audio land, i think you would be shocked that
someone would suggest that you pay $1500 per microphone.... but i'll
suggest it anyway.

why should that fat Pavarotti guy be the only one who gets a good mic
setup?

If you make one, be sure to include front/back
adjustability. With a Jecklin at a distance you can get a
really weak middle. That can be ameliorated by moving the
mics forward relative to the center of the disk.
