Hey everybody. This is our first message in this group. We are
producing a unique sound exhibit for a museum in the New York area
using binaural sound. Ideally, we'd want someone who can record,
design and mix, but we realize that may be a big ask. Recommendations
please?

What exactly are you trying to accomplish with the binaural sound?
Will the audience members / patrons be using headphones, or are you
hoping to create a binaural illusion with speaker playback? Are you
interested in recording audio with a "dummy-head" binaural setup and
playing it back in order to create a binaural spatial image of the
original audio? Or is the plan to design sounds and spatialize them in
a binaural environment? Is there a sound artist on board with the
project already, or do you need to find someone to do 100% of the sound
work?
Sorry for the load of questions, but it's hard to tell if I (or others)
could be of assistance without more specifics...

ZBS Media ought to be able to help (or at least refer you to someone)

I have that album (_The Bells_) and I can't hear it.
None of the binaural recordings seem to work for me.
Never tried making any myself.
Guess I'm not the best possible binaural sound expert.
The list of those things at which I'm not the best
is now (infinitesimally) longer.

even the relatively cheap soundman head-worn earpiece set is fantastic :
I managed to confuse several people by recording in a theatre they were
rehearsing in and then playing the tapes back on headphones from the seat I
was sitting in - even with eyes open, 70% looked to see where the sound of
footsteps crossed the stage : not bad for £250, and much better imaging than
putting up a stereo pair

Well, I certainly like the material they produced for sale/broadcast
under their own name, either in stereo or in binaural. (Some day I
really have to spend Too Much Money and pick up a whole pile of their
radio plays.)
