Printer Drivers

Hello,
Windows 7, operating on a MacBook Air recognizes the scanner but not the printer driver on a hp psc 950. any suggestions ?

open the hardware control and select the HP as default printer or,
delete and reload the HP drivers with the hardware plugged in.
(download the latest drivers from the HP website)
