First of all: English isn't my native language, so any weird wordings will probably be caused by that. Ok, so...
I was hoping you'd be able to help me in my quest for a decent docking station for my notebook (inspiron 9400 by our buddies @ Dell).. I work as a comic book author (entirely digital on my Wacom) using my notebook as my primary screen, with a 20" TFT as my secondary.. I use the secondary screen to thrown my canvas on there with all my tools and stuff flotaing on the primary..
Now, I'm getting pretty tired of disconnecting all my crap (printer/scanner/wacom/sec.monitor/external audio/external hdd/external keyboard/network cable) whenever I want to take my notebook on the road so i'm trying to find a docking station that would fit my notebook (obviously) and possess as many of the following features as possible:
- at least 4 USB ports, 5 if possible
- audio ports
- DVI (and VGA perhaps, but DVI is a necessity)
- a UTP port (now, I don't know if it's possible to pump a network signal through a dock, so lemme know if that's a bogus request)
With the places (and the docks) I've checked out so far, it seems like the USB ports won't be a problem, but I've found it extremely difficult to find a decent docking station with a DVI port.. and when I do, the other available features seem 'minimal' at most.
Brabo,
I am looking at developing a docking station that would plug into any current notebook that would be available in the summer. I will keep you posted.
