I am getting an HP pavilion laptop and now I found out that there will be a pile of preinstalled software what I don't need/use.

So now I am wondering that is it possible to make a clean install using WIN XP pro disc that I have. (in other words removing that HP recovery partition after I have made disc from it)

If it has a XP pro COD on it yes.

Your best off reformatting, updating fully, install apps YOU want., then use a backup imaging software to burn an image to DVD's.

The recov partition will be outdated and have all the junk apps you don't want.

Sorry, to what you are refering with XP pro COD ?

And I was planning to renew entire partition system propabl for both hard disks and I might get also an external hard drive to store extra stuff :D

Okay I got few new questions.

I am gettin new HP pavilion 9014 laptop and I am planning to install entirely clean version of XP pro, however now I came to be unsure that does XP install disc contain serial ata HD drivers ? and if those do, howto find those drivers to be sure.

Second is that in case I need to get drivers from somewhere, then how I am suposed to get those to laptop as it does not have an floppy disk drive... :/ (to memory stick or hard drive or disc (cd/dvd)?)

Also I am wondering that is it possible to get new parts (if found cheaply) for that laptop (other than RAM)?

Anyway this site is great source of information while determing what kind of laptop to get.. :D.
