"......There's no prize, but your sound may end up featured in a
Hollywood film."

Wonder how AES and IATSE feel about this?

I don't think AES or IATSE would have anything to do with this.
They're not asking for free engineering. They're suggesting a simple
recording of a sound as an example so they can hear if it's
appropriate, and can then send out a professional crew to record it. I
don't think they're looking for a once-in-a-lifetime sound in your
library, though if you have something they can use and the recording
quality is up to their standards, they might be interested in
licensing or purchasing it from you.

Some people get suspicious of the darnedest things. Must be the subway
bombing paranoia, extended.

I think it's too late to refrain Ben. You made your point.... and point
of view.

Actually I think most of the NPR listeners complaining were out of work
sound engineers :)

But I'm with you. There's no problem with a famous film sound designer
asking the public to call in with free ideas for major motion
pictures........ Might set a trend. People might even pay Them to
listen to their idieas. Kind of like those pay to play clubs in LA.

I jest of course. I'm actually looking forward to hearing what sounds
come in.
