I'm looking for a small mixer with analog line-level inputs and and at least
one digital (spdif) input, and analog outputs. Does anything like this
exist?

Why do you want such a thing?
How about a Mackie 1202 with a Dac-In-The-Box gaffer-taped to the side?

The Yamaha 01V would fit that description. You're not very specific in
the terms "small mixer" and "analog outputs", so this may or may not fit
your needs.

The MOTU traveler meets that requirement I believe.

It may contain mixer functions, but I would hardly call it a mixer.

If you mean a physically small mixer, that tends to rule out digital mixers.
There is no purpose in having an spdif input on an analogue mixer since it would
simply have to reconvert the digital signal to analogue. You might as well make
an analogue connection.

Hmm the DDX3216 is 6 x 17 x 22. Its footprint is like 3
regular PC keyboards.
This is kinda ironic since most digital mixers seem to be
mostly empty boxes.
It might be concievable that someone like Behringer would do
a 32 channel mixer with 4 layers and 8 physical faders. For
reference, my MXB1002 has six faders.

That's not what I understood by the meaning of small.

Without a computer? Without a manual? <g>

Without a computer, yes. Advertised as such.
Without a manual? I've never known a piece of audio gear not to have a
manual, but nowadays it might have to be printed online.

Well, the point is moot anyway because I changed my mind. A 1u line mixer
with direct outs or inserts might be what I'm looking for, all depends on
the DAW interface I choose. 8 attenuators in a row would work fine, summing
would be nice but that's not why I need the thing.
The traveller has a neat little feature set but I don't understand how I'm
supposed to get to the ports on the side when the thing is mounted in a
rack.

Glad you like that particular piece, but I like things neat. As the name
implies, it's designed as an all-in-one mobile rig, if you don't need that
functionality there are superior offerings from the same company.
