Just bought a Maxtor 160 partitioned it 4 ways, 40gigs approx. a piece. Transfered all the files on my 120 Maxtor onto the 160 so i could reformat, however now that its all done it no longer recognizes one of the four partitions. Have important unsaved files on the one that doesnt recognize. Just wondering if there is a way to retrieve the data back instead of using WinHex?

Current OS: Win XP pro
2.53 pent4 533MHZ
1024 pc2700 ram
radeon 9500np
120 gig Maxtor
160 gig Maxtor
2 Hp 4x dvd burners for kicks and gigles

Well, if possible, you could boot your system using a W98 floppy. And from there, you could use FDISK to see if you can fix the partition.

make sure SP1 is installed. WinXP will not recognize above 137BG without it.
