Ok, I know that windows has that emulation thing where you can set the game
to work in a previous version of windows... has that ever worked for anybody?
I accepted that some of my games would not work on XP but now after getting
SP2 games that did work do not. One such game is UFO: Enemy Unknown (Xcom
UFO Defender for those of you in the US)

Any help would be appreciated.

Have a look for the installation file on the original disk (install.exe,
setup.exe or the like). Right click the file and choose: 'sent to desktop'.
Right the file on your desktop and choose 'properties'. Choose
'compatibility'. Tick 'run this program in compatibility mode for:', choose
windows 95. click 'apply', 'ok'.
Click the icon you created, you will now install the game in win95 mode.
Repeat the same procedure for the icon of the game.
You should be able to run the game now. It worked for me with games like
SimIsle, Capital.

Did you do anything else to Simisle to get it to work? I tried that and the game starts up but when I go to start playing it crashes.
