Im currently thinking of upgrading to the 45nm Penryn for my acer aspire 5630 laptop.

stats:
intel T5500 @1.66ghz 2mb
15.4" WXGA
2GB ddr2 dual-channel
7300 go with 256mb
Dual-layer DVD burner
160gb HDD
Intel pro wireless 802.11a/b/g

Now the problem is that i dont know if this new processor will require a new chipset. I also want to know if the thermal properties are near the same so i dont fry it. someone please help me out.
