I wanted to get a couple of opinions of the Asus M6Va Centrino 1.73Ghz 60G 512MB ATI X700 128MB

What do you think of it? What are the pros/cons? Is Asus a good make for laptops? I haven’t really found any insightful reviews. Is there a place where I can check?

How loud is it? I am in a classroom setting. I hear it has some issue with the fans always running?

Or if someone could recommend a different laptop for about the same price with similar specs. I would like to do a little bit of gaming, nothing intense.

Thanks. I appreciate any comments.

x700 how old is it?

Find something more up-tp-date.

Asus is one of the better laptops you can get.

the price seems good for about 1000 CDN. Do you know anything about this laptop? I don't want to spend too much more than 1050 before taxes. Maybe you can recommend one. how about this one by Sony:

Sony VGN-FS920 Intel PM 740 1.73Ghz 512MB 80GB DVD+/-RW 15.4" Wireless G XP Home

for $850 cnd

Processor : Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 900
Video RAM : 128MB [Dynamically Shared (RAM/Video) Memory]
Chipset : Intel® 915GM
Interface : VGA Out w/ Smart Display Sensor

is this graphics not sufficent for battlefield 1942, call of duty 2, possibly doom 3?

i hear the Asus has issues with the fans running too loud?

The Sony is cheaper with a really good name.

not sure. what do you all think ?

thanks the help!!

You were better off with the first one. NEVER buy integrated graphics with the hopes of playing games that are better than the SIMS. Intel GMA 900 would give you maybe 0.25 FPS in any of those games. The X700 should do fine for 1942 and probably COD2. I've never played DOOM 3 so I can't advise about that.
