Ok, so here I am and I have the Asus P4P800 deluxe motherboard and my computer was running VERY unstable so I decided to run MEMTEST86. After running for about 5 minutes, I have at least 12,000 errors. I just built my computer with a P4 2.8c, AIW 9700 pro,and WD 120gig 8mb cache. Does anyone know why my ram is so messed up? I'm only using one stick and i'm running it in single channel mode. I updated the BIOS already to version 1009. I assumed Corsair was suppose to be a good company but after I saw "infinite" amount of errors after running the memtest...WOW...Does anyone know what I could do to fix this? If so, please answer, thankyou

Sorry, there have been many cases where the said memory module does not work well with the springdale/canterwood chipsets. May want to try some of the possible solutions at the Corsair Forum. See if reducing the memory speed results in less Memtest errors. Possibly a faulty module.

Yes I bought some of that memory. I disregarding what the salesman told me about how they get ALOT of returns on that memory. Especially with ASUS boards. Other brands like Mushkin, OCZ, Kingston, Geil should work.

P4 2.4c @ 3.0
ASUS P4P800 dx
Geil pc4000 2.5,3,3,6 250FSB 1:1
Radeon 9500 non-pro
2 Maxtor 60gig 7200rpm 8mb cach in raid 0
SB Audigy 2
Maudio delta 66 with omni studio

its actually quite funny now...I left my computer on over night to run MEM test and now there are 952271 errors and still counting! You would consider returning the ram and buying new ones? If so, I'm thinking about the Kingston HyperX as my next...how should I call this "victim" for my computer. Is that any good? Corsair...they dissapointed me, so many errors..

Corsair makes memory modules that are appropriate for your motherboard. May want to try Kingston HyperX if not willing to go back to Corsair.

At defualt clock speed and "by spd" timings you should get 0 errors. No if, ands, or buts.

not true...

The new intel chipsets push ram harder than it was intended...

In fact for a while intel was only going to release the 800mhz fsb cpu's using DDR2 technology...fact of the matter is that ddr just cannot take it...

So it is not the manufacturers fault...combine a ram tech that is being stretched way past its time with intels PAT which pushes the memory even harder and you have a BIG problem....

I would not blame corsair for this problem...

I didn't know that pIII_Man, thanx for the info. Are the errors ok to run like that?? Do you have to manually start turning timings down / cpu-dram ratio?? Yikes @ stock!!!

Some companies, like Crucial, are notorious for UNDER rating their RAM, so that Cas 2.5 modules will work at Cas2 on most boards. In the case of the 865/875, such memory is capable of being run at the stock latency of 2.5, but can't be sped up so easily.

I don't believe Jedec even has Cas 2 as part of the PC3200 standard, so that would point towards problems getting these modules to run that speed. But performance companies still support "faster than standard" modules.

Many of these higher speed modules run OK on most chipsets, but not the super hungry Intel 865/875. The best solution is to manually set the timings as longer. And MANY modules are NOT rated at their stock speed using stock 2.5v memory voltage, instead requiring as much as 2.8v to be stable, this information being listed right in the documentation!
