I have this problem , whevenever the computer reads or write to or from my LG CD writer, the computer slows down a lOT

why is this happening?
i installed all my via chipset drivers, did i miss anything?
please... some advice..

Is dma enabled on the cdrom?
Goto device manager under system properties and select the ide controllers. Right click each controller and under the tabs one will allow you to "use dma if available" or something like that.
If the drive is running in pio mode it takes longer to access which could slow things down.
