Has anyone actually had a Sony Vaio TX series laptop?

I'm curious how well these actually work.

I'm thinking of dropping the dough to get this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6834117306

I need something I can throw in my standard backpack with extra room for books and such. I suspect no games like BF2 can really play on it, but whatev. I just need it for photoshop type stuff

Thanks!

I say stay away. Sony is very overpriced for the components they give you. It uses a very slow Core solo processor that is outperformed by a lot of stuff out there.

Give me a price range and what screen size and weight range you are looking for so I can give you some better recommendations. One such would be a Dell XPS M1210. The screen is 12.1, it weighs between 4-5 lbs and uses a Core 2 proc which will completely run circles around that Sony. And despite what you may have heard about Dell service, Sony is worse.

Most of these would be better choices than that Sony:
12.1'' laptops from Newegg

Screen size range 10" to max of 15" I'd say (though 15 is pushing it)
Price range, under $2000 (though I'm really shooting for around 1,500)
Weight, not so much a problem, 6lb max i guess

Really the key is actual dimensions. The Vaio TX series is in at 10.7" x 7.7" x 1.1", which is smaller than a standard peice of paper pretty much. Thats what I mean by something I can just throw in my 'pack. I was looking at the Asus G1, but its just too big at 12.76" x 11.19" x 1.48"... mainly because its so damn deep (11 inches...)

Then i would look at the A8 series. They have similar specs to the G1 but come in a 14.1 '' size. They are around 1400 I believe on Newegg.

Either of these:
A8JS

A8JP
