My Fujitsu Siemens Amilo notebook is dead now. The pin in the motherboard where you plug the power in is lose and I need to replace the motherboard to fix it. Costs almost as much as a new notebook.
I need something to replace my aging pc and something powerful enough to play games. I don't have the money right now to buy a small notebook AND a high end pc. Going the middle way until in a year or two when I can buy a high end pc.

I've been looking at the Acer Aspire 5684
1.83 GHz Core 2 Duo

2GB Dual DDR2 533 MHz

160GB 5400RPM HDD

256MB GeForce Go7600

15,4" Wide screen

The only problem about it is that it comes with Windows Vista. Whats you opinion of it? I take any advice welcome, not a lightweight decision. And please suggest some other notebooks.

Pricerange around 2000$. I live in Iceland, not much to choose from and expensive to import. This notebook costs about 1500$ here.

It has 256MB GeForce Go7600.

I hate to say it, but I think Vista will be almost required for games in a little while. I saw that Halo 2 was being released for the PC at EBGames the other day only to be informed that Vista will be required to run it. Damn Microsoft
