Does it make a difference if I connect my mouse direct through USB or use the PS/2 adapter that comes with most mice.

I would just use the USB but some hardcore gamers want the ps2 for the higher refresh rate. I myself don't notice any difference. Since the MX700 is wireless anyway I think the difference is neglegable. Go with USB.

I prefer usb, and I'm a gameaholic. The tweak mentioned in this link helped me out a great deal regarding a less responsive mouse. I use the mx500 btw.
