I purchased the Aspire X-Dreamer case with the 350w power supply. It has 4 regular power cables and 2 smaller ones for the floppy drive.
I have a DVD, CDRW, Hard Drive, and 6 80mm fans.
Most 350w PS have a few more power cables. Since I only have 4 that I can use for the above, is it all right if I just link all the fans to one power cable?
Also, would it be possible to add a second HD? Anything like a power cable splitter? or can I plug the HD into the last fan in the link? ...or would it be a better idea just to get a larger power supply? But 2 HD, 2 DVD/CDRW, and 6 fans would be the highest I'd go.
I'll be running a 2.4C on the ASUS P4P800 Deluxe with 2x256mb Geil PC4000 RAM.
What ive noticed is that the cheaper and crappier brands of PSU's do scrimp on the number of power cables suppled... so only having 4 is not that uncommon.
You can run lots of fans off one cable, using splitter lines and passthrough connections as fans on the whole dont consume much power, rarely more than 10W for the uber fast fans, and closer to 1W for your average casefan.
Also adding a HDD shouldnt be a problem, allthough there is a chance that your 'average' quality PSU might have a problem running a system of all that power.
Thats why i recommend Antec or Enermax PSU's.
(plus they come with LOTS of connectors)
